Did any Valencia 846Bs have Foam around the Horn Mouth?

Mine had fiberglass around the mouth, but I've seen suggestions that they sometimes had foam instead. This thread here has photos of what might, or might not, be original foam.

Does anyone know? Thanks!

I bought my 846's new in 1975. They had foam around the horn. 4 individual pieces. I don't know about the later versions though. I love these speakers.

Thanks, Marvin! That's a big help. Did your foam disintegrate over time? Do you remember what color it was?

I wonder if yours were older or newer than mine; I get the impression that it was a change in the middle of the production process. My serial numbers are 5700 and 5709. Mine came with (hideous) fiberglass.

Mine are 7315 and 7316. The foam is gray, but painted black where you see them. There was a foam grill which was removable. It disintegrated long ago. The foam around the horn is still good. I replaced the foam grill with black acoustical fabric. I had the compression drivers (806) rebuilt by GPA. I have always taken the best of care of them. They still sound great.

Sweet; thanks! I guess the 486Bs started out with fiberglass and then went to foam.

Hey, I'm trying to get some reproductions made. Here are the dimensions I calculated based on the other poster's photos from my link above. Can you confirm or deny them?

Top rectangular section (Width x Height x Depth): 23 7/16" x 1" x 3 3/8".
Wedge side pieces: The side facing the rear of the cabinet is 3 5/8" wide x 6 15/16" high. The fat (outside) end of the wedge is 2 5/8" deep. That end of the wedge comes out at a 90-degree angle from the rear face. The face of the wedge tapers inward to its thin edge. That front face is about 4 7/16" across.
Bottom rectangular section (W x H x D): 23 7/16" x 7/8" x 3 3/8".
